The Veterinary Teaching and Research Farm
Practical veterinary training with real animals from the first year
Welcome
The Veterinary Teaching and Research Farm (Granja Docente y de Investigación Veterinaria) is home to six different groups of animals: cattle, small ruminants, horses and other equids, poultry, rabbits and dogs. The farm is where students carry out practical training in handling and reproduction for production animals. In addition, they also begin their training in clinical examination in small animals and equids, before progressing to real clinical cases with patients at the University’s veterinary hospital, the Hospital Clínico Veterinario.
All our students begin their practical training at the farm in the first year, with activities becoming increasingly intensive and specialized as they advance through the degree programme.
The farm’s other purpose, as its name suggests, is the research activity carried out by its various research groups, which conduct projects of the highest interest, both nationally and internationally, involving the different species housed here.
Our facilities
Our facilities comprise a range of animal units and specialized areas where students carry out practical training activities under real conditions for each animal type, as part of their comprehensive veterinary education.
Veterinary Simulation Room
Our simulation room allows students to acquire practical skills in a controlled environment before working with live animals. Equipped with anatomical models and clinical simulators, it provides a safe setting in which to practise examination techniques, diagnostic procedures and veterinary interventions.
Applied veterinary research in a real-world environment
Many scientific projects involving different animal species are undertaken at CEU UCH’s Veterinary Teaching and Research Farm. Research groups working at the facility conduct studies of national and international interest, contributing to advances in animal health, production and welfare.
Research activity takes place in a controlled environment, fully compliant with current regulations, and teaching and research is integrated to provide students with evidence-based training grounded in real-world practices.
