Small Ruminant Unit

About the Unit

The unit has a capacity for 100 animals, divided into two separate enclosures that allow the animals access to the outside. The unit also includes two adjacent enclosures with olive trees, where the animals can remain outdoors, weather conditions permitting. In addition, the unit is equipped with movable fences, enabling the animals to be divided into smaller groups to facilitate safe and effective handling during practical training activities. The adjoining module contains two workrooms for animal handling activities and teaching purposes.

Veterinary training on and off site

The Unit’s facilities are primarily used for teaching, enabling students to carry out practical training in animal handling, clinical examination, animal health, etc. To complement these activities, students also undertake off-site practical training at large dairy farms, which serve as advanced training centres.
